About the Author
Fumiko has been practicing yoga for over 30 years. At the age of 36, after a terrible car accident, having a fear of aging and losing confidence in herself, Fumiko created a unique face exercise method; the Face Yoga Method. Previously a college teacher, Fumiko is the first person who advocated Facial Yoga in Japan. She is a best-selling author and TV celebrity in Japan and since 2006 Fumiko has produced face-firming tools, cosmetics and how-to books, and has her own facial yoga DVD. The results she found in her own face and those of her students speak for themselves. Fumiko's five books on face yoga have been translated into Chinese, Korean and Thai and sold in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea and Japan. She also has appeared on Korean TV shows. But it is the one on one interactions of a facial yoga class that are the most rewarding to Fumiko, helping students discover their most beautiful face and inner self. Frequently traveling, Fumiko splits her time between Japan and the US. Currently Fumiko lives in Sacramento, California with her husband Henry and daughter Nina. While taking care of her family as a wife and mother, Fumiko still finds the time to practice face excercises whenever and wherever possible. At the age of 47 she has a timeless, glowing natural beauty.

The best part of this book is the cover. There could have been far more time taken for the inside pictures and content. She does have a fun energy to her though. I would suggest just watching the videos she offers instead.

True, there is an abundance of flourished birds as examples in this book, but each one is beautifully done... The designs are all different examples of how TO flourish something, whether it be a bird or not. The bird is taken into account so much due to it's excellent curvature for practicing with the pen and because the quill pen itself was so important, historically, as the book describes. A lot of the prints are so beautifully ornate that you have to take a good look to even see if there is a bird. But it does offer simple exercise instruction and tips, examples with lettering and such. I do not regret adding this book to my library.

definitely ornate and definitely pictorial...

which isn't a horrible thing.I still think there is lots to learn from the bird flourishes technique wise. But there are more than i had expected. (about 2/3 of the flourishes in this book include a bird or feather) I don't really think there's a whole lot of variation overall. There's not much text swashes in this book, which i had hoped for. Also, they are all very complex and busy looking—i thought there'd be a variety. For the price though, not a bad purchase. i will definitely use this for reference.

I bought this book trying to spruce my skills the book is as old as my daughter 18 years outdated and probably the same information I already know. And too expensive as well What a shame...

Pretty easy to understand!

This was a pretty easy-to-follow and understand textbook. Sometimes, though, the language is a little too basic, and makes the reader feel as if he were a child. Overall, the book was written clearly and made learning statistics a lot more bearable.

Ok for undergraduate statistics course, but could be better.

Pros:
Includes a good amount of the theory behind the statistics
Good choice of statistical symbols, for the most part.
Easy to read and understand.
Cons:
Some chapters really dumb things down too much, especially in the first handful of chapters.
There are some important typos (aside from those on the list of known errors).
I think the use of names like Bubbles and Foofy in the sample problems is a bit cheesy.
Students found the homework problems to be too difficult to interpret and often approached the problems incorrectly.
Expensive (but aren't they all)...

Much better than I expected

I ordered the ebook version of this textbook, as I didn't need a hard copy. I found that the ebook version was very user friendly (opened via kindle app on IPhone). It was easy to scan through when searching for something. It was also convenient when looking things up by topic. In no way did the ebook version hold me back.

The text within the book was also very helpful for me within my statistics class. I was retaking the course, since I failed the first time. The book I had in the course before had no examples, and very little information to help. I was concerned that this book would be the same. This textbook is great though. It contains multiple examples. One thing that could possibly be a set back is the terminology. The definitions were extremely technical, making it difficult to put them in real world terms. Luckily, I had taken the course before, so it wasn't a foreign concept to me. However, if you are new to this topic, it may be hard to correlate to terms that you are familiar with. One benefit is that the technical terms that the book utilizes are very similar to what your professors will anticipate within your work.
