Lovely book!! A page turner, well researched and full of personal warmth and fascinating history.
Doreen Valiente was my first ever encounter with anything outside of the narrow frame of religion I grew up with, so it's so nice to get a sense of who she was. I wish I had met her in person!

A subject that needs exploration, but several things about this book bother me.

To keep this review focused, I'll concentrate on one thing. What bothers me most about this book is the section titled, "Can a pet return as a human?"

Atwater claims that animal souls cannot match the higher "vibrational energy frequency range" of a human. She then quotes "the Yogic view": 'According to this theory, sometimes an animal soul that prematurely becomes a human (before it has learned enough lessons to be truly evolved) reincarnates as a person that exhibits excessive "beast like" qualities.'

Atwater does not elaborate on what "beast like" means, but I think it's pretty obvious what that term would evoke in most people's minds: brutal would be a suitable synonym. This is especially strange considering that this section follows the section on "God animals".

I'll tell you what "beast"-like really means in my experience: loving creatures that just want to live their lives as honestly as possible. The animals that have contacted me in spirit have all talked about the same thing: love. The happiest beings I have ever known have been animals. None of that sounds like lower vibrational energy or brutal qualities to me.

I believe that we will never truly understand life or our roles in it until we abandon the ladder-like metaphor of spiritual evolution that places humans above all else. That metaphor not only confuses our view of life, it has contributed to uncountable suffering for animals everywhere.

Fantastic book for all pet owners

After my 13 year cat companion transitioned recently I found Brent Atwater's work and websites. I ordered her book "Animal Reincarnation" and as I read, my grief began melting away, replaced with comfort and hope. In my opinion reincarnation is a fact and there is much reputable information and evidence to support the concept of human reincarnation. However I didn't give much thought to animal reincarnation until this book. If this concept seems strange, just open your heart and mind to the possibility. Brent's messages and words ring with sincerity and resonate as truth to me. Her book is filled with intuitive wisdom and written in a very grounded manner. It does answer just about any question you could think of on this subject. Based on "Animal Reincarnation" it is clear that when our pets pass on, they only shed their physical bodies (just as in human death) and move into a different state of being. They are fine! And they are aware. And they may even return to be with you. My only regret is not finding this book before my pet transitioned. Brent is divinely gifted and is providing an incredibly valuable service through her work.

Returning souls....

I have had animals around me all of my life, mainly cats whom I have adored. 5 years ago I came across a puppy who turned my world upside down. I named him Joey and he lived for 4 short years, dying from a sudden massive spread of cancer after struggling with pancreatitis intermittently for 2 years. He was the joy of my life - and I 'knew' him, understood his soul, his thoughts and his feelings. The very day he died, my world collided with grief and my first thought was 'how do I connect with his soul?' and 'can I bring his soul back into another animal?' I had always believed in reincarnation for humans, so why would it be different for animals - reincarnation is about souls and their energy.
The search led me to Brent Atwater's websites, books, blogs and support groups. When I read some of the posts in the group, it was like a light 'came on' and I realised I was not alone in my thoughts and prayers.
I ordered the paperback the very next day and waited about a week for it to arrive. I still prefer paper back as I can carry it around with me and read it wherever I go. I read the book from cover to cover at least three times, each time gaining more knowledge and understanding. It filled me with hope initially, but then the hope changed to 'knowing'. I have soul mates in two of my cats that have been with me in one form or another since 1983. My boy Joey is returning to me in the next few weeks.
No one can know everything about what happens in transition, rebirth or death - but Brent knows and 'feels' as much as a soul can. She has too many testimonials to mention, myself being one, and I share her mission in life to bring about more awareness that reincarnation is a beautiful and simple part of God's plan.
Anyone who is suffering grief and loss and has any questions - should read this book. After this book I then bought [[ASIN:1463578245 "I'm Home!" a Dog's Never Ending Love Story: Animals Afterlife, Pets Soul Contracts, Animal Reincarnation, Animal Communication, Animals Spirits and Pet Reincarnation], again in paperback - these are stories from real people who have experienced the return of their pets and is too beautiful for words. Now I have both on Kindle as well. Beautiful books, beautiful soul is Brent Atwater and what she explains, explores and writes about is beautiful.

When life is at its darkest, change is inevitable!

Dr. Gregory V. Jones Jr., has chronicled the biblical epic of Job, injecting those points into the modern day struggles that every human beings faces...the challenges and the necessary tools needed to overcome.

The author takes us beyond the torment that besieges Job, reaching down into the depths of the story, challenging us with thought provoking dialogue:
"Is misfortune always a divine punishment for something?"

In our humanness, we feel the desire to lash out at God for the terror that befalls us. But Dr. Jones has a unique gift of grasping and communicating the glorious, and sometimes mysterious, truths of scripture. Relating to the reader that "change is inevitable" and the wisdom of God is beyond human comprehension regardless of what happens .

In this "must read for all Christians", when life is at its darkest ,... what is life without change? ....change without struggle, ....struggle without strength. Because within the struggle we discover our strength not our triumph. Without it{struggle} how can we rejoice in the triumph.

If a review it would be better to read their text on biochemistry first before this ...

The Authors try to condense their book on Biochemistry into 2 pages as a chapter at the beginning of this work. It really should be used as a review only. There are way too many terms thrown in haphazardly with no explanation as to their definition. This leaves the reader wondering as to what was just said. Was this chapter meant to be a condensed text book on biochemistry? Or a review? If a review it would be better to read their text on biochemistry first before this book on Medical biochemistry or even read the rest of this book first that explains what this chapter is saying. If this chapter is a condensation of their former text book on biochemistry then some simple changes could be made to make it more understandable. Next to a term put the definition in parenthesis. This definition should have no new terms used and should associate the term with something everyone relates to. Even a child should be able to understand it. Also, pictures and diagrams should be used. If these changes are made this chapter and even the book will become very popular.
