A WONDERFUL BOOK OF A TO Z COFFEE

This book is simply wonderful!! From A to Z, it covers everything about coffee!
The book starts with history, how coffee came to be, its spread throughout the world, the different kinds, explanation of coffee words, such as roast, strong etc. tastes of coffee, grinding, storing, caffeine, instant coffee, decaffinated coffee, brewing methods, expresso and expresso machines, water and coffee, milk frothing, serving coffee, accessories, coffee and alcohol, Latte Art, Coffee Reading, Coffee Luwak, coffees of the world and much much more!
It contains pictures, vocabulary, how to cup/cupping a cup of coffee, how to roast it correctly, what waters to use and more. I loved my first reading of this book and I am going to leave it on my coffee table for further reading by me and others!! I feel coffee smart now! What a great topic to break the ice with a new friend.

I really enjoyed reading and browsing through the book

I really enjoyed reading and browsing through the book. It's written in a very matter-of-fact style that gets to the point quickly. Nevertheless, the writing style is engaging and I genuinely enjoyed reading the book and learned a lot of new bits and pieces about coffee.

Without a doubt, this is the MOST comprehensive resource regarding coffee that I have ever read.
When I first began to peruse the book, I really had my doubts. I mean - it doesn't just cover everything I could imagine there to know about coffee... it covered topics I had never considered, or had no idea existed. In this book, the author covers everything from the worldwide history of coffee, to which parts of the world today produce what types of coffee, to everything - EVERYTHING in between. I just couldn't imagine that all those... DETAILS... would be worth the read - at least, not for a regular person. I mean, I really enjoy coffee, and I very much look forward to my morning ritual - of which coffee is a key component. But I didn't think I needed all those details to keep enjoying it.
Okay, so, I don't... BUT, Having read the book now, I can say there is far more in it that is far more interesting - to me - than I anticipated. Granted, there are parts of this book that still hold less interest for me, and I can only imagine a coffee industry professional would be interested in *every* fact included. But the details included are so valuable. Now I know more about what I *do* care about - the different ways to prepare coffee, how to approach each the best, how different coffee pots and preparation techniques work - as well as what to consider and know to get eh beans to prepare the brew I want.
I particularly appreciated the author's details on coffee machines, as well as the exploration of buying your beans green and roasting them yourself.
The *only* reason I didn't give this book five stars is that I caught a few conflicting statements, in the beginning, in the timeline of the history of coffee. It's entirely possible the author will correct this in subsequent editions, and it might seem like a small thing, but when a book is this detailed (about something I do care about), finding places where there have obviously been oversights takes away from the credibility of the entire book. (On page 9, he lists David Strang patenting the first instant coffee in 1890, then on page 10, he gives the same creidt to Dr. Satori kato (sic) in 1901).
